Frequently asked
Everything to know before booking — fees, timing, trials, and how each service works.
What is the kit fee for?
This will not be applicable to every appointment, but especially for groups of 3 or more, a $50 kit fee will be included. I work exclusively with luxury, professional-grade products — Augustinus Bader, Skinceuticals, Tata Harper, Furtuna Skin, Vintner's Daughter, Sisley, Pat McGrath, Chantecaille, Rodial, NARS and tools by Solawave and FOREO. The kit fee is what allows me to bring the highest-performing products to every appointment — because exceptional results start with exceptional tools.
What is the travel fee?
For appointments outside my SF 94103 studio, a travel fee starting at $50 applies. The exact amount is calculated from the distance to your zip code and covers drive time, fuel, parking, and transporting the kit safely. You'll see the estimate before anything is confirmed — never a surprise charge.
Why is a 50% deposit required?
A 50% deposit confirms your booking and reserves the date exclusively for you. Once paid, I turn away other requests for that window. The remaining balance is due the day of service.
How far in advance should I book?
For weddings and large events, 2–6 months ahead is ideal. For lessons, consults, and single applications, 2–4 weeks is usually enough — but reach out anytime; I do my best to accommodate shorter timelines when the calendar allows.
Do you do bridal trials?
Yes — I strongly recommend one for every bride. A trial is booked as a full application and lets us perfect the look, test wear and photography, and lock in timing for the wedding day. Trials are typically scheduled 4–8 weeks before the event.
What if I have allergies or sensitive skin?
Let me know in your inquiry. I carry fragrance-free, hypoallergenic, and sensitive-skin options across the kit, and I'll tailor product selection accordingly. For severe allergies we can also do a patch test ahead of time.
Do you offer virtual services?
Yes — fragrance edits, personal shopping, wardrobe edits, and lessons can all be done virtually. Virtual rates are lower since there's no travel or kit fee involved.
What's the difference between the Base, Tech, and Spa Tech applications?
Base is a beautiful, traditional makeup application. Tech adds iced facial massage and a vibrating, heated, red-light lymphatic drainage massage that depuffs and sculpts before makeup goes on. Spa Tech includes all of the above plus a warming back massager, upgraded Dr. Barbara Sturm eye mask, and travel-size take-home products — and tip is included.
Do you have a maximum number of people for bookings?
Because each makeup can take between 45 minutes and 2 hours depending on the project, there may be a cap on how many I can do alone. I have a large network of talented makeup artists I can bring in when needed for larger parties.
What forms of payment do you accept?
Zelle, Venmo, Apple Pay, Cash App, and cash.
How long does each service typically take?
The approximate length of time for each service is listed in the description on the Services page.
Will the makeup last all day and through photos and events?
Yes — I use specialized products before and after makeup application to ensure the look stays photo-ready all day and all night. You'll also receive touch-up products like a sponge, loose powder, setting mist, blotting paper, and lip color.
Do you offer touch-up services during the event?
Yes — for an additional fee per hour, I will stay for your event and touch you up when needed (e.g. before photos or after dancing).
Can you accommodate a large bridal party?
Depending on whether I am doing the bride's makeup or not, I can usually do between 3–5 applications within a 2–6 hour timeframe. Anything over that I will hire another makeup artist to join me.
Do you work with all skin tones and types?
I work on all skin tones and types with a focus on darker complexions.
Should I do anything to prepare my skin before the appointment?
No — I will cleanse your skin with micellar water and filtered water before applying skincare.
Do I need to bring anything with me?
If there are certain products you must use (e.g. a medicated moisturizer for sensitive skin), definitely bring them. If there are items from your own beauty arsenal you'd like to reference during the consultation — like a favorite discontinued lipstick — bring those along too.
Can you achieve natural, glam, SFX, or other specific looks?
Yes — I have years of experience working with every style of makeup art.
Do you use cruelty-free or vegan products?
Many of my products are cruelty-free and/or vegan. You can refer to the list of products I use to see which brands are included in my services.
Do you use 'clean' beauty products?
Each product in my kit has been carefully selected for its cleanliness and efficacy. Many of them have very high ratings on the Yuka app.
Can I request a specific brand or product?
I provide a list of all the products I use in my beauty arsenal, from skincare to beauty tools. You can request anything from my collection to be used for your consultation.
